Estimation of Fundamental and Formant frequencies of infants’ cries; a study of Infants with congenital Heart disorder

چکیده
A congenital heart disease (CHD) is a defect in the structure of the heart and great vessels of a newborn.CHD s are classified into Cyanotic and Acyanotic. The most common cyanotic heart disorder in infants is Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). Among Acyanotic heart disorders, Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), and Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) are common. The present work aims at estimating the features of fundamental frequency (Mean, Maximum and Minimum) and the formant frequencies (First, Second and Third) of infant cries with TOF, VSD, ASD, PDA heart disorders. In the present study a total of 75 infant cries are investigated. The fundamental frequency and formant frequencies are estimated using frequency domain (Cepstrum) and Linear Prediction Code (LPC) methods. The results show that the fundamental frequencies of cries of infants with TOF, VSD, ASD, PDA, and healthy infant cry signal are in the range of 364Hz to 396 Hz, 435 Hz to 447 Hz, 435 to 467 Hz, 553 Hz to 584 Hz and 367 Hz to 409 Hz respectively. Such parameters provide useful information in the early diagnosis of heart disorders in infants. Keywords; Infant cry; CHD; Fundamental frequency; Formant Frequency

Resonance development and formant tuning phenomena in infant's crying
The tracking of resonance frequencies and the analysis of their interaction with the fundamental frequency (F0) allows a description of (pre-) articulatory activity in very young infants. Subjects are six healthy infants. Spontaneous cries were recorded weekly from the 4 until the 20 week. For resonance frequency estimation a spectral parametric technique was applied, which was based on autoreg...
متن کاملSix-Month-Old Infants Prefer Speech with Raised Formant Frequencies
Voices can be characterized by their fundamental frequency as well as by speech timbre characteristics, such as formant frequencies. While infants’ responses to fundamental frequency characteristics are well established, very little is known about how infants respond to changes in formant frequencies. This study tested whether 6-month-old infants prefer listening to speech with raised formant f...

Introduction: The lack of adequate blood perfusion through different organs of the body, including the brain and skull, can be caused by any type of circulation abnormality. The purpose of this study is to compare cephalometric indices between infants under the age of 12 months who have congenital heart disease (CHD) and normal infants. Materials and Methods: This case-control study was ca...

Background & aim: Congenital heart disease is one of the most common malformations at birth that require timely recognition and treatment. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and etiology of detected heart murmurs and association between congenital heart disease and heart murmurs. Recognition of murmurs etiology would help us to manage and treat them properly. Methods: In this...
متن کاملPrognostic Value of Soluble ST2 (sST2) Serum Levels in Infants and Children with Heart Failure Complicating Congenital Heart Disease
Background Heart failure (HF) in infants and children with congenital heart disease (CHD) is a crucial complication with different outcomes. Many biomarkers are used as prognostic indicators. Soluble ST2 (sST2) is one of these markers studied in adults with HF. We aimed to study the prognostic value of sST2 in CHD children with HF. Materials and Methods In current case-control study, thirty-six...
